Cast Bucket Teeth for Excavators, Loaders and Dredging Equipment
Cast replacement teeth for excavator, loader, backhoe and dredging buckets. We cast the full range in Hadfield high-manganese steel and 30CrNiMo-type alloy steel, in GP (general purpose), HD (heavy duty) and XD (extreme duty) styles. Two-piece systems (adapter + replaceable tip) and integral teeth are both available; custom geometries are cast from drawings as part of our custom metal casting program. For crushing-machine wear parts, see our crusher wear parts catalog.
Tooth Styles and Mounting
| Style | Duty | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| GP | General purpose | Soil digging, sand and gravel loading |
| HD | Heavy duty | Compacted ground, rock-ore penetration |
| XD | Extreme duty | Hard rock, demolition, concrete and rebar |
Two-piece system: a replaceable tip on a permanent adapter — only the worn tip is replaced, the adapter stays on the bucket. Integral teeth: a single casting, for buckets where an adapter system is not fitted. Installation interfaces are machined to match the bucket’s tooth pocket.
Materials and Mechanical Properties
| Property | Hadfield Mn steel (Mn13 / 110G13L) | Alloy steel (30CrNiMo type) |
|---|---|---|
| As-cast hardness | HB 180–220 | Core HRC 45–55 |
| Working hardness | HB 400–500 (impact work-hardened) | Surface HRC 55–65 (carburized / hardened case) |
| Tensile strength | ≥ 750 MPa | — |
| Impact toughness (KCV, V-notch) | ≥ 80 J/cm² | 20–40 J/cm² |
| Low-temperature behavior | No brittle fracture at −40 °C | Moderate |
Manganese teeth work-harden under impact: the surface hardens to HB 400–500 while the core keeps its toughness. Alloy-steel teeth carry a hardened case over a tough core, for abrasive penetration where impact is moderate. We select the grade against your ground conditions and machine class. For the full forged-versus-cast and grade-by-grade selection logic, see our bucket teeth material selection guide.
Self-Sharpening Geometry
The tooth uses an asymmetric cross-section and a V-taper so the cutting edge stays sharp as the tooth wears — penetration does not decay through the wear life. This is a casting-tolerance property: the wear profile depends on the as-cast geometry, so we dimension-check every tooth against the drawing before shipment.
Applications
| Application | Conditions | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Earthmoving | General soil | GP, manganese |
| Quarry and mining | Hard rock, ore | HD/XD, alloy steel |
| Loading | Sand and aggregate | GP, manganese |
| Dredging | Wet sand and slurry | Manganese + corrosion protection |
| Demolition | Concrete, rebar | XD, alloy steel |
Compatibility
Teeth are cast to match the mounting interfaces of CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi and Volvo machines, and to major aftermarket GET systems (MTG style included). Send your machine model, bucket width or the part number stamped on the tooth — we cast to it. Custom tooth geometries from drawings are standard practice, not an exception.
Manufacturing and Quality Control
Medium-frequency induction melting; the Mn/C ratio is tightly controlled for manganese steel, and the Cr/Ni/Mo balance for alloy steel. Precision casting for tip geometry; water-toughening (solution treatment) retains the austenitic structure in manganese teeth; carburize + harden + temper produces the hardness gradient in alloy teeth. Quality control: spectrometric analysis, surface-to-core hardness gradient check, impact testing, full dimensional inspection. ISO 9001 quality system; material and test reports plus hardness distribution charts supplied on request.
Delivery and Quotes
Quotes within 24 hours. Samples available for wear-trial before volume orders. Standard sizes ship from stock; custom castings run on a stable lead time.
